• Each child is given a passport in the shape of a laptop.

• Inside is a screen for personal details and ‘logon’/password reminders. The next page has an ‘aide memoir’ of the keyboard to help with keyboard familiarisation and skills.

• The subsequent pages detail each band of activities and have a space for a ‘kid skills stamp’.

• At the end of each band/level are integrated projects designed to test the proficiency and progress of the child. The projects may require the children to use any/or a combination of the 10 skills activities.

• When an ‘integrated project’ has been completed successfully with appropriate evidence, the teacher, or assistant just administers a ‘kid skills stamp’ and writes their initials and the date.

• Gaining all 10 stamps and completing at least one integrated project entitles the pupil to a ‘memory upgrade card’ which is slotted into the memory slot at the back of the ‘laptop’. This provides an instant visual assessment opportunity.

There are a selection of integrated, cross-curricular projects and it will be left to the teacher’s discretion to choose which one is most appropriate for their group or individuals. These projects can be modified slightly so that they are more appropriate for a topic in class.

Evidence of completion of these projects MUST be kept.

THERE IS NO AGE CEILING FOR ANY PUPIL - those deemed very able or entering the scheme part way through the school could show their proficiency by completing an integrated task for some of the previous colour bands. For example an average child starting the scheme at the beginning of year 3 might be expected to be at the green band level of ability, they would start the year by completing one of the integrated topics from the previous 2 bands i.e. yellow and orange.

All materials in the Teacher’s Pack are freely photocopiable and could be enlarged or laminated for display and classroom purposes.

The pack is designed be passed on to subsequent teachers in its entirety, to follow a class throughout its school life.
